Boots on the Ground: Mobile Digital Lab

The Boots on the Ground initiative brings practical digital training directly into communities so individuals and families are not left behind in today's technology-driven world.

Training hearts, equipping hands, closing the digital divide.

Boots on the Ground is the community engagement initiative of Carry the Cross Outreach Ministries. This work reflects our commitment to show up with compassion, structure, and readiness when community needs arise.

Carry the Cross Outreach Ministries is working directly in the community to address the growing digital divide. Through our Tuesday Digital Bootcamp, individuals learn essential computer skills needed for employment, education, and daily life.

One of our current initiatives is the development of a Mobile Digital Lab designed to address the growing digital divide in our community.   Many adults lack access to computers or the skills needed to apply for jobs, complete online forms, communicate by email, or participate in digital learning environments.  Our program provides hands-on training and support to help bridge that gap.  The Mobile Digital Lab allows us to bring computer training directly to neighborhoods, libraries, churches, and community spaces.

Our Current Initiative: Tuesday Digital Bootcamp

As part of this initiative, Carry the Cross Outreach Ministries hosts the Tuesday Digital Bootcamp, where participants receive hands-on training in essential digital skills.

Students learn:

• Computer fundamentals
• Email communication
• Microsoft Word
• Online job applications
• Resume preparation
• Internet safety and digital confidence

The goal is not only training, but empowerment — helping individuals gain the skills needed to participate in today's digital world.

Our Philosophy

  • Prepared — volunteers equipped and supported

  • Respectful — honoring dignity and autonomy

  • Prayerful — guided by discernment rather than urgency

  • Sustainable — designed for longevity, not exhaustion
